The La Rectoria Art Centre (La Rectoria of Vilamajor Private Foundation), is a private non-profit organization that aims to study and research in the field of art, especially but not exclusively the plastic arts; improve communication between different sensitivities, cultures and geographical origins; promote the dissemination and extension of art using the appropriate media in each case, as well as disseminate and teach the global and human reality of Montseny.
It is a platform for the expression, development and thought of contemporary art. It aims to boost the immediate environment with the collaboration of the artists who reside at the Centre. A local task, national exchange and international dynamics.
It is in Sant Pere de Vilamajor, Vallès Oriental, province of Barcelona - since its creation in 1987- in a farmhouse dating from 1639 and that inside preserves spaces from the 12th and 13th centuries-XIV. Recent archaeological excavations have uncovered the foundation of a wall of Roman origin. It is a place of residence and work for artists (plastic arts), writers and researchers promoted by the La Rectoria Art Center (La Rectoria de Vilamajor Private Foundation).
It consist of:
- Six Rooms for Individual Use
- Two complete bathrooms.
- Kitchen with office.
- Reading room
- Workshops.
The call is aimed at artists with an artistic project in the field of plastic arts who temporarily need a workspace
What do we mean by residency?
The stay of artists who have a project to carry out at any stage of the creation process is understood as a residency. In addition, during this stay the creator must establish links with the Center or with other creators in residency
Duration
The selected projects will benefit from:
- A stay at the La Rectoria Art Centre for a duration minimally of one month and maximally of three months, with free access to the workspace, whether individual or shared
- Artistic advice, if applicable, by the members of the artistic team of the Centre

Resident engagements
- To comply with the regulations of the La Rectoria Art Centre
- Residents will have to pay the established fees before starting their stay
- The project developed during the stay must be identified as a project carried out at the La Rectoria Art Center through its logo on all the elements of dissemination and promotion of the project (networks, press, catalogues, etc.).
Criteria for project selection
When selecting projects, the following criteria will be taken into account :
- Interest of the project for the objectives of the Center
- Projects that promote links to the territory
- Full CV of the artist
- Possibility of realization (available space; adaptation to the time defined for realization...).
Project selection committee
The selection committee for the projects presented is made up of the Centre’s artistic team, which will also do the follow up of the artistic process.
Procedure for the request of the residency and the publication of its results
Documentation that must be submitted to be able to access the residency:
- Application document (see annex I)
- Photocopy of the identity document (ID or passport)
- Dossier of the project to be developed during the residence.This dossier (maximum 1,200 words) must include:
- Project name, concept and description
- Calendar or work plan of the project presented, in which the duration of the stay will be specified
- Visual documentation and brief curriculum with references to the works carried out
The Centre d’Art La Rectoria reserves the right to resolve everything not provided for in these rules, including the possibility of reversing the jury’s decision if the development of the projects does not meet the objectives of this call.

Use of spaces
At the La Rectoria Art Center (La Rectoria of Vilamajor Private Foundation) you will find workspaces, autonomy in your own daily rhythm, a good atmosphere for creativity and the possibility of attending complementary activities that, if appropriate, the Center organizes. You can use the common spaces by consulting their availability. It is expressly forbidden to redistribute furniture in rooms and common spaces without prior consultation with the administration of the Centre.
To work, only assigned spaces must be used. The rooms, the kitchen and the noble room are not work spaces, although the noble room can be used as a reading room or for computer use.
The Center will assign room and workspace to each artist taking into account, as far as possible, the needs of each one.
The ground floor of the building is for the exclusive use of the Art Center for daily activities, and artists cannot use it as a residence area except for the space used for the washing machine and the kitchen. The ground floor is open to the public, so special care must be taken in its maintenance
Economic aspects
The stay includes accommodation and use of workspaces and common spaces. It does NOT contemplate the work materials or travelling expenses, which are carried out by the artists. Maintenance (reposition of cleaning materials, cleaning in general -washing, cleaning of the rooms and workspaces-) is also carried out by the artist.
If during the stay you want to invite someone to spend the night at the Center, first you have to consult the administration of the Center and pay the cost of the overnight stay according to the current price (20,00 €)

Airplane: after arriving at the Barcelona – El Prat airport go to the Renfe train station situated next to the terminal T2 and take line R2 Nord to Llinars del Vallès and from there the bus of the company Sagalès, line 582 and 583 to Sant Pere de Vilamajor

Internal regulations
If there are damage due to the negligence of the artist, he/she must assume the cost of repairing the damage caused to the Centre d’Art La Rectoria (La Rectoria de Vilamajor Private Foundation) so he/she will pay the total cost of the repair, if necessary.
The artist must assume the cleaning and arrangement of private spaces, the room and the workshop: each person is responsible for the arrangement and cleaning of the room and the workspace. Special care must be taken in the maintenance of common spaces (bathrooms, kitchen, leisure and work rooms) to facilitate the coexistence and stay of other artists. No noise should be produced at night to respect rest for other residents.
The kitchen must be cleaned and ordered after each meal. Waste must be deposited daily in external recycling containers in accordance with recycling regulations.
The bathrooms must always be in good conditions of use.
To respect the environment and save resources, you must avoid leaving the lights unnecessarily lit; the windows must be kept closed during the period of use of heating and not waste more water than strictly necessary.
Respectful behaviour must be maintained, it facilitates coexistence with other resident artists, users and workers of the Centre.
Attend to the indications of those responsible for the equipment regarding the organization and the requirements for the proper use and maintenance of the facilities.
The use of the workspace as a warehouse space is not allowed. You cannot have objects or materials capable of producing any type of combustion or explosion.
You cannot eat inside the workshops, it must be done in the area enabled for this purpose.
The centre's facilities must be kept closed outside office hours. The loss of the key, not reproducible by the usual means, entails a penalty of 75€.
The Centre d’Art La Rectoria (La Rectoria de Vilamajor Private Foundation) is not responsible for any loss or theft of residents’ personal belongings.
