Fundació La Rectoria de Vilamajor Fundació Privada-Centre d’Art La Rectoria (CAR) is a private non-profit organization with the main purpose of study and research in the field of arts, especially but not exclusively in visual arts. It also enhances communication between artists coming from diverse cultures, backgrounds and geographical precedence.
It is also a platform of expression, development and thinking of the contemporary art as well as a place that can create a bridge between different artistic expressions while providing a great environment with the collaboration of the artists residing in the Centre.
It is located in Sant Pere de Vilamajor, Vallès Oriental, Barcelona, Spain, since its creation in 1987, in a farmhouse dating from 1639.
The scholarships are designed to create a place of residence and work for artists, writers and researchers and are organized by the CAR.
Centre d'Art La Rectoria offers:
- 3 Single Bedrooms
- 3 Double Bedrooms
- Two Bathrooms
- Fully Equipped Kitchen
- Reading Room
- Washer
- Five large workshops (which can be shared if the needs of the Centre so require).
- Outdoors.
The Scholarships are addressed to any professional of artistic creation (visual arts), scientist, intellectual and researchers.
Characteristics
1. The special commission of the CAR will consider all submitted projects applying for the scholarships.
2. The scholarships provide residence and work space. Only in some cases, if the special commission of the Centre sees convenient, financial support can be offered for the projects and their development.
3. The beneficiaries, by the mere fact of applying for these scholarships, are compromised to accept the contents of this announcement and its resolution.
4. Those artists that have already been granted any of our scholarships in the previous two years cannot apply for a scholarship upon this call.
Valuation Criteria:
1. Submission of all documents specified in the call in the requested format.
2. Creativity, originality and innovation of the project.
3. The overall quality of the project.
4. The professionalism of the creator in the description and the defense of their project, in writing or, if apprpriate, in an interview.
5. Appropriate proposal of a competition calendar.
All scholarships beneficiaries are required to:
1. Communicate in writing the acceptance of the scholarship within fifteen days after receipt of the notification. In the case of not receiving any acceptance notification, the scholarship will be granted to the next selected project.
2. The residence must be completed in the terms established in the call.
3. The Centre's management will decide the period of completion of the project:
- a. Once the arrival date to the Centre has been agreed it cannot be prorogued. If the scholarship beneficiary does not show up the scholarship will be removed.
- b. Only in cases of force majeure the beneficiary can request by a writing note addressed to the CAR and authorization to make a change regarding the starting and ending dates of the residence.
- c. In any case, if the period of time for the project's completion is longer than initially proposed by the artist and then accepted by the organization, the cost of extra staying days will be not covered by the Centre.
4. The participation of the CAR must be acknowledge in any communication submitted in relation to the project with the following phrase: "In collaboration with the Fundació La Rectoria de Vilamajor Fundació Privada-Centre d’Art La Rectoria (CAR) ". It should be also noted that the project has been produced in the Fundació La Rectoria de Vilamajor Fundació Privada -Centre d’Art La Rectoria (CAR) and include the Centre's logo.
5. Comply with the general and particular rules of the Centre.
6. After the scholarship has been completed, the Centre will exhibit the project developed by the grantee, (either by an exhibition, conference, projection, workshop, concert, performance, etc...)
7. At the end of the residency, a full report about the project must be submitted.
8. The scholarship beneficiaries are required to submit a sample of the project in the Centre.
9. If deemed appropriate, the CAR will publish the results of the projects on its website.

Dates
Project Deadline: January, 31, 2017
The residences are granted in lapses from 1 to 3 months in two possible periods:
- From April 1th to June 30th, 2017.
- From September 12th to November 30th, 2017.
Further information
Objectives:
Promoting opportunities for creation and exhibition of art; development of scientific and intellectual projects.
Spaces:
In the CAR the candidate will find workspaces, autonomy and a good atmosphere for creativity.
The candidate will be able to use the common areas (kitchen, main hall, outdoor gardens) at availability.
The ground floor is for the exclusive use of the Centre for its daily activities, and may not be used as a place of residence for scholarship granted artists.
The ground floor is open for visitors, making it a necessity to take special care in maintaining this space.
Economics
The value of the scholarship is set at € 600,00:
paid by the organization: accommodation, access to workshops.
Paid by the artist: 50,00 € for collaboration in maintaining the Centre.
The artist should also pay meals, travel, insurance, equipment and other expenses.
If during the stay the artist wants to invite someone to stay overnight at the Centre, they should first request the administration of the Centre for approval and pay the cost of the overnight according to the current price (20,00 € / day).
Duties:
Donate a work created during residency to the Centre (in the case of artists) or a report of the work done during the stay (in the case of scientists and intellectuals)
Comply with the rules of coexistence.
Use and maintain the premises of the CAR.
Collaborate in activities organized by the Centre during the period of residence.
Submitting a report on the implementation of the project.
Other events in the program: group exhibition, public presentations.
Materials:
To develop their project the candidates must bring with them the materials they will need. The Centre can provide specified information about nearby places where these materials can be found. For any other matter not specified in this announcement the candidates should address the Centre's Directorate.
