The La Rectoria Art Centre (La Rectoria of Vilamajor Private Foundation), is a private non-profit organization that aims to study and research in the field of art, especially but not exclusively the plastic arts; improve communication between different sensitivities, cultures and geographical origins; promote the dissemination and extension of art using the appropriate media in each case, as well as disseminate and teach the global and human reality of Montseny.
The Centre d'Art La Rectoria is located in Sant Pere de Vilamajor, a small town near Barcelona (40 km), within the boundaries of the Montseny Wildlife Park and 12 km away from the Mediterranean sea. It is connected by train and by bus with Barcelona.
The centre provides residential facilities for the artists and fully equipped workshops for various specialities. It also has large outdoor areas that permit work in the open air, as well engaging in numerous types of installations.
The Centre d'Art La Rectoria actively supports the contemporary arts and encourages both study and research in this field. It has workshop studios for sculpture, painting, ceramics, chalcographical engraving and serigraphy.
The focus of the center is on the latest developments in the plastic or visual arts and, in order to be on the cutting edge on these fields, it encourages all types of research and experimentation.
The Centre d'Art La Rectoria is international in scope. In pursuing its objectives, it promotes exchanges with other art centers, but also with universities and with individual artists the world over.
